Avid outdoor fans will tell you that many things are simply better when done camping. Read a book by firelight, and you’ll never forget it. Sleep under the stars, and you’ll rest better than you ever have before. Many argue that food tastes better when cooked over a campfire. One claim that is pretty undisputed among outdoor enthusiasts is that coffee drank while camping tastes better than when brewed at home. If you’re looking to put that claim to the test yourself, here are five fantastic coffee recipes to try on your next camping trip.

Chocolate Delight

While many die-hard campers will tell you that black coffee is the only way to go, it doesn’t hurt to sweeten the occasional cup of joe. Here’s a recipe for some chocolatey goodness.

2 Tbsp. coconut cream powder

¼ cup whole milk powder

2 Tbsp. chocolate milk powder

Once you’ve got your fire going, brew up your favorite brand of coffee, then add both of the milk powders and stir. Once mixed, sprinkle the coconut cream powder on top and serve.

Cinnamon Latte

If you like a blend of spicy and sweet, try this flavorful brew on for size.

½ tsp. ground cinnamon

1 Tbsp. dark brown sugar

¼ cup whole milk powder

1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

2 Tbsp. powdered vanilla coffee creamer

As usual, start by brewing your coffee. In a separate container, mix up the other ingredients. You can do this at home before heading out and put your mix in a Ziploc bag. Add the spice mix to the coffee and stir. If you want, sprinkle some additional cinnamon on top.
